Monticello

Monticello's live-music options span a notable range of settings for a small Central Illinois city. The biggest draw is Allerton Park & Retreat Center, a 1,500-acre historic estate operated by the University of Illinois. Allerton hosts the annual Music Barn Festival and monthly concerts in the park. The outdoor Concert Series, held on the Gatehouse Lawn from 6 to 9 p.m., has run since 2013 with themed evenings across the summer season. The Music Barn itself holds up to 200 guests beneath exposed timbers and a 30-foot ceiling, and has hosted University of Illinois School of Music performances including jazz faculty concerts. On the Square, 3R2 Coffee & Events is a locally owned coffee shop and event center that also functions as a music venue, offering a more casual, daytime-friendly setting in the heart of downtown.
