Tuscola

Tuscola's downtown has two venues doing regular live music, each with a different feel. Bookie's Tavern, at 122 W. Sale St., is a coffee-and-cocktail lounge that doubles as a sports bar. Owner Kailan Kibler says there will be a lot of music, and the space includes a built stage that hosts DJs, local bands, and solo artists. The News-Gazette People's Choice 2025 voted it first in Bar, Sports Bar, Cocktails, and Karaoke, and third in Live Music. The Vault Art Gallery, at 100 N. Main St., occupies a historic former bank building and is cooperatively run by independent artists who rent space in the gallery. The Vault runs a monthly Acoustic Jam and has also hosted bluegrass jams on its floor. Opening receptions bring in regional performers, including Jordan Kaye (known as The Tune Wrangler), a Central Illinois fixture with ties to local stages and Nashville. The gallery also offers art classes, events, and concerts throughout the year.
