Dalton, GA

Dalton sits about 30 miles south of Chattanooga in the carpet-mill corridor of Northwest Georgia, and its downtown has built a genuine live-music calendar over the past decade. Dalton Brewing Company on W. King Street is the informal center of that scene, with bands playing most nights alongside rotating craft beer selections. Its recurring "Tunes on Tap" series brings local and regional acts into the taproom on Saturday afternoons and evenings. The Wink Theatre, built in 1941, is one of the oldest structures in downtown Dalton. It has the versatility to shift from a movie theatre to a performance theatre capable of hosting touring or local theatre, musical, or dance companies. It has hosted ticketed concerts such as country artist John Schneider. The Wink is now owned by Rock Bridge Community Church, with independent events held there only occasionally. Anchoring the city's outdoor calendar, the annual Off the Rails Concert Series is one of Downtown Dalton's biggest free live music events, spanning genres from bluegrass and blues to Latin and rock, held every Friday from June to July at Burr Performing Arts Park.
