Rising Fawn, GA
McLemore Resort sits atop Lookout Mountain in Rising Fawn, about 30 minutes from Chattanooga. Its main live-music draw is the annual Songwriter's Series, now in its fifth year, held atop Lookout Mountain with intimate performances under the stars and sweeping views of the Tennessee Valley. The series pulls in genuine Nashville and Americana talent: past performers have included Grammy-nominated Americana artist Mary Gauthier, who has written for Blake Shelton and Tim McGraw, and upcoming dates include Raul Malo, James Slater, Tom Douglas, Lauren Jenkins, and Chris Gelbuda. The resort also hosts corporate and private events with live music, including dueling-piano acts. Beyond the Songwriter's Series, Cloudland at McLemore Resort books concerts and live shows as part of its regular resort programming. The broader area carries real musical heritage: folk guitarist Norman Blake, whose music appeared on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack, lives in Rising Fawn, and the Forester Sisters, named CMA Vocal Group of the Year, are from here.
