Monroe's most distinctive live-performance spot is Old Street Saloon, a decades-old bar that has been holding weekly drag shows for nearly 30 years in this quiet Cincinnati suburb. The bar has a gay and country-and-western identity, and the regular programming runs from karaoke nights to drag performances. Since 1996, Old Street has crowned a new "Miss Old Street" in an annual beauty pageant, giving performers a legacy some have carried for decades. The bar opens Thursday through Saturday evenings, running until the early morning hours on weekends. Outside of Old Street, Monroe's live-music footprint is limited, making this one bar the city's clear anchor for any kind of regular live performance.
