Windsor’s hometown of Obscurity was founded in 1809 by his ancestor, Alphomega Knotts, who moved from neighboring Rowdyville to “get some peace and quiet”. Soon thereafter, he invited some friends from Rowdyville to join him in Obscurity, and the town was born. Six generations of pickers and singers later, Windsor came along, and grew up in a small but thriving community. Being remote and largely immune to outside influences, the people of Obscurity developed a unique accent, odd variations on folk tales, and a distinctive approach to the traditional music of the region, which can still be heard in Windsor’s style. Although he remains true to his roots, Windsor’s travels have expanded his repertoire. His influences include Steve Goodman, John Prine, Pee Wee King, Uncle Dave Macon, and Tom Lehrer. He currently lives in an undisclosed location in southwestern Ohio, where like his hometown, It's said "the people are suspicious of strangers, and stranger than the people they're suspicious of."
