The Night Show is an experimental, non-profit, hip-hop group consisting of members Duotone and MINT. Based out of Portland, Maine--and having grown up in Maine (Duotone) and Massachusetts (MINT) respectively--The Night Show places a heavy emphasis on creating a new sound for hip hop by hijacking important sounds, rhythms and formats from hip hop culture and combining them with lyrics appropriate to a New England, middle-class, liberal-arts background. MINT's lyrics contain numerous references to food, films, and music, which, combined with Duotone's old school funk samples create a distinct sound which Duotone has been quoted as arriving on the scene "about fifteen years too late."
