Alto
Alto's live-music identity is largely tied to one spot: Wildwood Family Farms, an outdoor live-music venue running a summer and fall concert series called "Between the Silos." The farm was founded in 2002 by Justin and Kelly Heyboer and sits on eight acres, anchored by a restored 1890s barn. Shows run on Friday evenings, with doors opening at 5 p.m., and admission is $10 at the gate, with children 16 and younger admitted free. Past lineups have drawn acts ranging from the Kari Lynch Band and The Soul Syndicate to the Michigan Mafia String Band. The farm also operates a food truck and mobile bartending service, making a concert night a fuller outing than a typical club show. Outside of Wildwood, Alto has little formal live-music infrastructure, and the Between the Silos series is the main reason music fans make the drive out from Grand Rapids.
