Kamelot: Dark Asylum World Tour

Kamelot is an American power metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1987 by guitarist Thomas Youngblood. The band was originally named Camelot, a suggestion attributed to Youngblood’s mother, and initially featured Richard Warner on drums, Rob Beck on vocals and Dirk Van Tilborg on bass and keyboards. In 1988, the group recorded the song "Breaking The Silence" for a local compilation. By 1991, Sean Tibbetts joined on bass, Mark Vanderbilt replaced Rob Beck on vocals and Dirk Van Tilborg had left, and the band changed its name to Kamelot to distinguish it from other uses of the name. A first demo was recorded that year, followed by a second demo in 1993 after Glenn Barry replaced Tibbetts. David Pavlicko joined on keyboards and the band signed to Noise Records, releasing its debut album "Eternity" in 1995, followed by "Dominion" in 1997. After touring in Europe, drummer Richard Warner left and was replaced by Casey Grillo. In 1998, Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan replaced Mark Vanderbilt, marking the start of a long-term collaboration with Youngblood. That same year the band released "Siége Perilous" and began touring internationally. In 1999, Kamelot released "The Fourth Legacy", followed by the live recording "The Expedition" after a European tour. The album "Karma" followed in 2001. Keyboardist David Pavlicko left during this period. In 2003, the band released "Epica", followed in 2005 by "The Black Halo", both of which were loosely based on Goethe’s version of the Faust legend. During this era, Oliver Palotai joined as a multi-instrumentalist contributing keyboards and guitars. The band also expanded its international touring activity and produced its first music videos, including "The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)" and "March of Mephisto". In 2006, the live DVD "One Cold Winter's Night" was recorded in Oslo. In 2007, Kamelot released "Ghost Opera" and later the expanded edition "Ghost Opera: the Second Coming". The band toured extensively through Europe, North and South America, and Asia, performing at several major festivals. In 2009, bassist Glenn Barry left and Sean Tibbetts returned for touring duties. Work on a new album led to "Poetry for the Poisoned", released in 2010. During this period, Roy Khan became seriously ill and was unable to complete touring commitments, leading to the use of guest vocalists including Fabio Lione and Tommy Karevik. In 2011, Khan officially left the band. In 2012, Tommy Karevik became the new lead vocalist, and the band released "Silverthorn", marking his first studio album with Kamelot. The band continued extensive touring across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and completed a touring cycle that lasted into 2014. In 2015, Kamelot released "Haven", which featured guest appearances by several vocalists and was followed by worldwide touring. In 2018, "The Shadow Theory" was released, and drummer Casey Grillo departed, later replaced by Johan Nunez for touring and subsequently Alex Landenburg becoming the official drummer in 2019. During this period, the band continued international touring and released the live recording "I Am the Empire – Live from the 013", recorded in 2018 and released in 2020. In 2023, Kamelot released "The Awakening", preceded by several singles including "Opus of the Night (Ghost Requiem)", "Eventide" and "NightSky". The band continued touring internationally and performed at several festivals. As of January 2026, Kamelot has released thirteen studio albums, three live albums, two live DVDs and approximately twenty music videos. In 2025, the band released the box set "Ascension (1995–1998)", containing remastered early material and previously unreleased recordings. In 2026, Kamelot announced the Dark Asylum World Tour, scheduled to include dates in North America and Europe with various supporting acts, beginning with a launch event in Tilburg, Netherlands. Visions of Atlantis is an Austrian symphonic metal band formed in Styria in 2000. The band was reportedly influenced by the Finnish symphonic metal group Nightwish, the myth of Atlantis, and in later years a recurring pirate theme in several albums. Visions of Atlantis was formed in August 2000 by Werner Fiedler, Thomas Caser, Christian Stani, and Chris Kamper, who developed a concept inspired by the legend of Atlantis. Later that year, mezzo-soprano Nicole Bogner joined the group, and the band released a demo titled "Morning in Atlantis" in 2000. In 2001, the band signed a record deal with TTS Media Music/Black Arrow Productions. Their debut album, "Eternal Endless Infinity", was released in 2002. In 2003, the lineup changed, with Stani replaced by Mario Plank and Kamper replaced by Miro Holly. In 2004, Visions of Atlantis signed with Napalm Records and released their second studio album, "Cast Away", in November of that year. A music video was produced for the track "Lost", which received airplay on VIVA and MTV. The song "Lemuria" from the album was later used during medal ceremonies at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics in Daegu. In early 2005, the band toured Europe with Elis and Lyriel. Later that year, Bogner left the band. After Bogner's departure, American soprano singer Melissa Ferlaak (formerly of Aesma Daeva) joined as vocalist, and Wolfgang Koch replaced Fiedler on guitar. In 2006, Martin Harb replaced Holly on bass. In 2007, the band released their third album, "Trinity", recorded at Bavarian Dreamscape Studio and mastered at Finnvox Studios. Following the release, the band toured the United States with Epica. In late 2007, Ferlaak and Koch left the band for personal reasons, and Fiedler rejoined as guitarist. In 2008, the band searched for a new vocalist and later revealed Austrian soprano Joanna Nieniewska, although her identity was initially kept confidential. In 2009, Nieniewska left live performance duties due to health issues but continued working behind the scenes. She was replaced by Maxi Nil, formerly of On Thorns I Lay and Elysion. In 2011, Visions of Atlantis released their fourth studio album, "Delta", followed by the EP "Maria Magdalena". In the same year, bassist Mario Lochert left the band due to internal differences, after which the band chose not to replace a permanent bassist. In January 2012, former vocalist Nicole Bogner died at the age of 27 after a prolonged illness. Later that year, the band announced their fifth studio album "Ethera", which was released in March 2013 and dedicated to Bogner. It was the first album featuring guitarist Christian Hermsdörfer and no official bassist. In late 2013, most members left the band, leaving drummer and founding member Thomas Caser as the only remaining original member. The band subsequently reformed with returning members Werner Fiedler, Chris Kamper, and Michael Koren, alongside new vocalist Clémentine Delauney and singer Siegfried Samer replacing Maxi Nil and Mario Plank respectively. Kamper left in 2015, while Koren and Fiedler were later replaced by Herbert Glos and Christian Douscha. The sixth studio album, "The Deep & the Dark", was released in 2018. In 2018, Michele Guaitoli joined the band as male vocalist. The following year, the live album "The Deep & the Dark Live @ Symphonic Metal Nights" was released, featuring Guaitoli sharing vocal duties. Siegfried Samer later left the band, with Guaitoli becoming his permanent replacement. The seventh studio album, "Wanderers", was released in 2019 via Napalm Records. In 2020, the band released the live DVD/Blu-ray "A Symphonic Journey To Remember", recorded in 2019 with the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra of Prague. The eighth studio album, "Pirates", was released in 2022, incorporating more orchestral arrangements and choir elements. In 2022, the band also launched their official fan club, VoA Sailors. The ninth studio album, "Pirates II – Armada", was released in 2024, preceded by the singles "Armada", "Monsters", and "Tonight I'm Alive".
