Lancaster

The Grantland Theatre opened in 1924 and was restored to its original Prairie-style appearance in 1990, complete with balcony and box seats. The venue runs the Highway 61 Concert Series, bringing nationally and internationally touring songwriters to the historic space on the second Wednesday of each month for intimate performances. The series also debuted a new sound system; while films and stage plays remain the core of the schedule, the upgrade expands the range of artists the theater can host. The Grantland is also home to the Lancaster Community Players, who give theatrical performances several times a year. The theater seats roughly 150 on its main level, with additional capacity in the balcony, keeping shows close and personal.
