Ferguson's live-music spots are small, community-rooted rooms oriented toward adult crowds and classic Black music traditions. HollyLou Entertainment, on South Florissant Road, programs jazz, R&B, comedy, plays, and poetry, drawing local, regional, and national talent. The venue puts a live band on stage every Friday and Saturday. J's House of Music, on Pershall Road, bills itself as an event place for the 35-and-older crowd. Reviewers describe the music as leaning toward 60s and 70s R&B, and the venue also runs karaoke nights alongside its live band performances. Beyond those two rooms, the city itself hosts a Summer Concert Series on the second Friday of the month from May through August at Plaza at 501 on South Florissant Road. The Ferguson Farmers Market, held each Saturday, regularly features live bands.
