Being As An Ocean

Being as an Ocean is an American post-hardcore band from Alpine, California, formed in 2011. They have released six studio albums: Dear G-d..., How We Both Wondrously Perish, a self-titled album, Waiting for Morning to Come, released on 8 September 2017, PROXY: An A.N.I.M.O. Story, released in 2019, and Death Can Wait in 2024. How We Both Wondrously Perish was released in May 2014 and charted at number 57 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.

Formed in the spring of 2020, beneath the dark clouds of the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders, lowheaven’s sound oscillates somewhere between post-hardcore, screamo, blackened noise, and metal. The Toronto band consists of Dan Thomson (vocals/guitar), Mikey Buchta (vocals/bass) and Alex Pley (guitar/keys). Thomson, formerly of Canadian post-hardcore band Sparrows, explains candidly, “We’re not a happy listen, lowheaven is something that has got a lot of weight.” Their debut EP, Collapse, explores the sensations of unease and pain through its ever shifting style, with aggressive screams one moment and ominous metal guitar work the next.

Surfacing in 2010 in the heart of the mid west, St. Louis, MO, As Earth Shatters immediately grabbed the attention of many local legends and touring acts. In the Autumn of 2013, after 3 years of stage time and touring they signed to Hard Wood Records. Scrapping all prior music and starting fresh, the Spring and Summer was consumed in studio. On Nov. 22nd 2014 Creation, the debut album from As Earth Shatters was released and sold over 2000 first week. In the continuing months they have gone on to play with other national acts like Twelve Foot Ninja, Nothingmore, Morbid Angel, Kittie, One Eyed Doll, A Lesser Hope, Unearth, Texas in July and so forth. National tours are already being set in the Spring and Summer of 2015.
