The Croswell Opera House, at 129 East Maumee Street, is recognized as the oldest theater in Michigan and among the oldest continuously operating theaters in the United States. It has served southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio since 1866. For live music, the Croswell programs six to eight full-scale Broadway musicals per season, and also hosts straight plays, original works premiered on-site, and periodic concerts. The auditorium holds 640 people and features ornate plaster throughout and tall organ towers on either side of the stage. New sound equipment was installed in 2019. Beyond the Croswell, Adrian's downtown hosts monthly First Friday Art Walks that include live music. The Croswell is the city's only dedicated music venue of note, making it the clear anchor of Adrian's live-performance calendar.
