Charleston
Charleston is a small college city anchored by Eastern Illinois University, and that campus connection shapes much of its live-music calendar. The Doudna Fine Arts Center, located on EIU's campus, is the area's most formal music space. Home to EIU's Departments of Music, Art + Design, and Theatre, it hosts over 350 events a year. The center features a proscenium theater, a studio theater, and upgraded concert and recital halls. Programming includes over 100 professional touring groups. On the bar side, The Uptowner has been a bar in Charleston, IL since 1998, offering live music, a full bar, draft and craft beers, pool, darts, shuffleboard, trivia, and open mic nights. Lefty's Holler, a pub on 7th Street, has been a bar and hangout in Charleston for over 15 years, with volleyball courts and live music.
