Pelham

Pelham, a small rural town in the mountains of southeast Tennessee with a population of just over 430, draws hundreds and sometimes thousands of visitors for live music. The draw is singular: The Caverns, a subterranean music venue set inside a natural cave. The grounds feature two main caves, with the underground concert venue located in Big Mouth Cave, and an outdoor amphitheater on the surface. Big Mouth Cave holds up to 1,200 people for standing-room shows, while the above-ground Caverns Amphitheater holds up to 6,000 guests. The Caverns hosts a wide variety of performances, including concerts across multiple musical genres, comedy shows, and podcasts. The Caverns Sessions PBS series has welcomed artists like Billy Strings, Brandi Carlile, and Bruce Hornsby, while the booking also runs to psychedelic jam bands like Disco Biscuits and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The venue hosts up to 100 concerts annually, alongside outdoor concerts and festivals. Overnight yurt accommodations are available throughout most of the year, and on-site camping is available after most shows.
