Wilmington

A suburb in the Chicago area

Wilmington is a small Will County city on historic Route 66, about 10 minutes south of the Chicago metro off I-55. Its live-music footprint is modest, centered on The Wine Cafe at 130 Bridge St, positioned on Route 66 and a short drive from I-55. The cafe runs live music every Friday and Saturday night, alongside weekly game nights and craft nights. The room doubles as a serious wine bar: it carries nearly 200 wines from around the world and highlights regional labels like August Hill Winery from Utica and Unpossible Mead from Dwight. The space overlooks the Kankakee River. On non-band nights, live music alternates with a DJ for karaoke. Guests can also order food from Nelly's next door and have it delivered to their table inside the cafe. For a small-town stop, it punches above its weight as a consistent weekend music spot along this stretch of Route 66.
