Jefferson
Jefferson sits within Cleveland's larger West Park area on the West Side. Its indoor live-music scene rests almost entirely on one spot: what Spotlight is to the West Eighties neighborhood, Little Rose Tavern is to Jefferson. Owner Roseanna Safos, a punk musician, bought the tiny place with a front patio about four years back, and her ethos shapes everything about it. The bar books without blinders, running the range from noise rock to bar blues, and operates without much formality. Every band gets 100 percent of the cover charge. Live music typically runs Friday through Sunday nights, though the schedule is flexible. Past bookings have included acts like Morgan Garrett, Gloorp, Spike Hellis, Styrofoam Winos, and the Powers/Rolin Duo. Beyond the bar, Jefferson Park hosts a weekly outdoor summer concert series each July that has grown into a community cornerstone.
