Rootstown

Rootstown's live-music identity runs almost entirely through one address on State Route 44: The Dusty Armadillo, Ohio's largest year-round country music destination. Established in 2002, it has presented top-name stars and emerging artists with a focus strictly on country. The building dates to the 1920s and its 5,000 square foot solid maple dance floor anchors the room. The Dusty hosts local and regional country bands on the Armadillo stage, as well as national acts and up-and-coming talent. Past headliners include Eric Church, Jake Owen, The Cadillac Three, Riley Green, and Casey Donahew. Dance lessons are offered several nights a week, and shows typically run standing-room-only, with drinks, billiards, and food also on offer. The venue sits about 20 minutes east of Akron, making it a draw well beyond Rootstown itself. If country music isn't your thing, there is no fallback in town.
