Kent
The Outpost Concert Club has been providing live entertainment in Kent since 1970. It is a large venue with four bars, four stages, and an outdoor patio. Rock is its home base, though the club books a wide range of genres. Most shows run Thursday through Saturday, but can be held any night of the week. Kent's broader live-music calendar runs well beyond the Outpost. Spring brings the American Roots Music Festival downtown, a free event focused on Americana, bluegrass, and country. Every July, free live blues music turns up at over 20 downtown venues for Kent Blues Fest. Each February, free Beatles and British Invasion music plays throughout downtown as well. Kent State University's presence shapes the city's appetite for live music year-round, and the density of bars booking original acts and cover bands makes the downtown walkable for a night of show-hopping.
