The Cleveland Orchestra: Prokofiev???s Romeo & Juliet
Classical · Orchestral · Orchestra
Cuyahoga Falls sits about 30 miles south of downtown Cleveland and its live-music identity is largely defined by two outdoor venues operating at very different scales. Blossom Music Center, open since 1968 and holding up to 23,000 people, is the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra and the site of its annual Blossom Festival. Beyond classical programming, Blossom is widely used for popular music, especially folk, rock, and country, with Live Nation handling that side of the calendar. The venue is located within Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and its covered pavilion is known for extraordinary acoustics, making it one of the most respected outdoor music venues in the country. Downtown, the Cuyahoga Falls Downtown Amphitheater and Pavilion sits within the broader downtown area along the riverfront boardwalk. The amphitheater hosts concerts, festivals, and other events throughout the year, and the city sponsors regular programming including Falls Downtown Fridays. It operates at a community scale, a contrast to the regional draw of Blossom up the road.
