Ames
Ames is home to Iowa State University, and its two concert venues reflect that campus anchor. Jack Trice Stadium, a 61,500-capacity stadium on the ISU campus, is primarily home to Cyclones football. Beyond football, it has hosted concerts over the years, welcoming artists like George Strait, Chris Stapleton, and Little Big Town, along with stadium-scale names like Post Malone and Jelly Roll, who played MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium in July 2026. These concerts are infrequent but draw large regional crowds. For regular live music, Stephens Auditorium is a 2,602-seat hall that hosts international performances of music, theater, and dance, as well as world-class orchestras, Broadway musicals, and country and rock concerts. The auditorium covers a wide range of genres, having previously welcomed artists like CeCe Winans and The Fab Four. Upcoming bookings include The Temptations and a live-orchestra production of Swan Lake. Together, the two venues give Ames an outsized concert footprint for a city its size.
