Flushing
Flushing is a small city in Genesee County, considered a suburb of Flint. Its live-music footprint is modest, but one venue stands out well beyond its size. Farmhouse Folk is the anchor of the local scene. Concerts are held on a former farm in a building repurposed as an intimate performance space. With only 35 seats, it puts audiences close to the performer and keeps the focus squarely on the music. Farmhouse Folk books local, statewide, and national singer-songwriters. The venue was founded by Eric and Jen Janetsky, accomplished musicians themselves, who moved to Flushing from Saginaw in 2019. Through years of traveling Michigan's folk scene, the Janetskys built a network of contacts, and Farmhouse Folk itself began earlier in Saginaw before coming to Flushing. Outdoors, Riverview Park hosts a recurring Concerts in the Park series in warmer months. For a dedicated live-music destination, though, Farmhouse Folk is the reason to come to Flushing.
