Saline
A city in the Detroit area
Saline is home to a microbrewery and a dedicated music room that together give this small Washtenaw County city a real live-music footprint. Stony Lake Brewing Co. hosts concerts in its intimate 50-person tasting room, where all ticket proceeds go directly to the artists. The brewery's Acoustic Routes series pulls in touring and regional acts with a clear lean toward acoustic styles: jazz manouche, Irish traditional, and folk are recurring staples, alongside acclaimed Detroit-based Americana acts like The Whiskey Charmers. The Arboretum Music Venue, just east of downtown Saline, features live music most Fridays and Saturdays. Owned and run by a local Saline family, it puts on weekly shows where local bands and musicians perform both originals and covers. Most shows are all ages. The venue also runs a Thursday teen night. Beyond the two permanent venues, downtown Saline hosts free outdoor concerts on Thursday evenings in the West Henry Street parking lot through the summer Salty Summer Sounds series, running from late June through late August.
