Nashville, Indiana anchors Brown County's live-music scene, offering venues that range from a major regional concert hall to a line-dancing barn. The Brown County Music Center opened in 2019 with Vince Gill as its inaugural performer. The roughly 2,000-seat hall books rock, blues, country, pop, jazz, and more, and keeps every seat within 106 feet of the stage. Past headliners have included Art Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Melissa Etheridge, Chicago, and Gordon Lightfoot. A Nashville fixture since 1949, the Brown County Playhouse holds about 425 seats and mixes national touring artists and tribute bands with live theater and film screenings. Indiana University ran the Playhouse for decades before returning it to the community in 2011; it now presents live theater, musical productions, and films with digital projection and Dolby sound. Mike's Music & Dance Barn is a country-leaning venue that pairs live music with a dance floor, food, and a community atmosphere. It runs country line dancing on Sunday evenings, open to all ages.
