Greenfield

A city in the Indianapolis area

Greenfield has its own music scene, though it's not as large as those in Indiana college towns. Live music here centers on two distinct venues with very different characters. Depot Street Park opened its outdoor amphitheater in June 2022, and Greenfield Parks & Recreation along with the City of Greenfield present the annual Depot Street Park Concert Series. The Friday night series is called Entertainment @ Depot Street Park; the Saturday series is called Live @ the Rails. Local and regional musicians cover everything from classic rock and country to jazz and folk. The park leans heavily on tribute acts: recent bookings have included The Woomblies (rock orchestra), a John Denver tribute, and an Alabama tribute. An average of 2,000 people attend each show, and concerts are free, with attendees bringing their own lawn chairs or blankets. Indoors, the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts is a renovated 1946 Art Deco/Art Moderne movie house that is now the focal point for live artistic performances in Greenfield. The 386-seat facility features professional lighting and sound capabilities for live productions as well as a cinema-quality audio-visual system. On any given day, the Ricks hosts musical performances, comedians, theatrical performances, speakers, and other acts.
