Brookside
Brookside is a historic, walkable Kansas City neighborhood whose live-music presence is modest and mostly tied to community events. Patio Fest, held each summer, brings free live music to sidewalks and restaurant patios across the district. The annual Brookside Art Annual also draws live music alongside food vendors and art. For dedicated venue music, Charlie Hooper's is the neighborhood's main option, a true neighborhood bar and grille and Kansas City's original craft beer bar, located in Brookside for 40 years. It pours 30 taps and over 100 bottle and can options, leaning heavily toward local, craft, and seasonal brews. DJ fans will find frequent live mixes at the bar. The spot is described as a longtime, low-key watering hole with American comfort food, darts, shuffleboard, and an all-season patio. It is less a live-band room than a deep-rooted neighborhood bar where DJs and the occasional set complement a sports-and-beer crowd.
