The Norton Center for the Arts, on the Centre College campus, draws over 55,000 visitors a year through a season-based lineup that spans a wide range of genres. Past performers have included Dolly Parton, Yo-Yo Ma, ZZ Top, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside Broadway musicals and international dance and theatre companies. The building holds two rooms: the 1,470-seat Newlin Hall, noted for its acoustics, and the 367-seat Weisiger Theatre. The complex was designed by William Wesley Peters of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and opened in 1973. Recent seasons have brought country, classical, folk, and world music acts, including free community concerts by the Louisville Orchestra, led by conductor Teddy Abrams. Each summer the Norton Center releases its fall and spring performance schedule, mixing theatre, live music, and other performances.
