Wildwood

Wildwood is a largely residential city in far west St. Louis County, and its live-music footprint is small but distinctive. The anchor of the scene is Stovall's Grove, home of country western music since 1935, billed as St. Louis's top country spot, spanning classic country western, rockabilly, and today's country and rock. The hall features national and local live music on Fridays and Saturdays, Wednesday and Thursday dance lessons, monthly barbecues, and a full liquor bar set in an open-air tree-lined grove. Inside, the decor runs to wagon wheel chandeliers, sawdust on the dance floor, and a stage ringed by a timber fence topped with saddle frames, with walls that hold vintage fiddles, guitars, hats, and country music photos. Regular acts have included Colonel Ford & the Roughriders, Roadhouse Kings, Diesel Island, and the Missouri Valley Boys. Beyond Stovall's, the city itself runs a free outdoor series: Music on Main brings live music and local food vendors on the third Friday of each month from May through August, on the grassy field east of B&B Theatres on Main Street, free to attend.
