Chris Kelly and Jake Zimmermann met at Vanderbilt University, where they began jamming together. They later welcomed Aidan Cunningham into the band. The band's name, Edgehill, is inspired by Edgehill Avenue, a prominent road near their university campus. Their music is influenced by alternative (grunge) bands from the 90's.
