Soulard, just south of Downtown, has been a hub for live blues music for over a century, and its brick-lined streets are home to some of St. Louis's oldest and most popular blues bars. Bars and clubs host live performances nearly every night. Hammerstone's is one of the only places in the St. Louis area with live music (mostly blues) seven nights a week, and twice on Saturdays and Sundays. Regular blues musicians through the door include Roland Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, and the Voodoo Blues Band. Hammerstone's, at 2028 S. Ninth St., holds nightly live performances all days of the week. Broadway Oyster Bar is a locally owned establishment widely regarded as the premier New Orleans-style restaurant, bar, and music venue in the Midwest. BOB offers live music twice a day every night except Friday, presenting local and national touring acts across rock, reggae, bluegrass, blues, funk, R&B, roots, and jam, plus New Orleans bands. The Soulard Blues Band's Monday-night session at BOB bills itself as the longest-running blues jam session in the nation. The neighborhood's other live-music spots include John D. McGurk's Irish Pub and Garden, 1860 Saloon Game Room & Hardshell Café, and the Old Rock House on South 7th Street, a historic building that books contemporary sounds from the St. Louis music scene. Big Daddy's Soulard, The Hi-Hat Lounge, Great Grizzly Bear, Eat Crow, Historic Crossroads, and International Tap House round out the neighborhood's options across a wide range of formats and genres.
