Lafayette Square's live-music life centers on two distinct settings. Lafayette Park hosts free concerts every other Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., with a lineup that spans jazz, blues, country, and rock. Those bi-weekly shows take place at the Betsy Cook Pavilion, and attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. For indoor music, Prohibition, a speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar, opened in late October 2025 inside the historic Centennial Malt House at 2017 Chouteau Ave., just outside Lafayette Square's formal boundaries. Inspired by the clandestine speakeasies of the Prohibition era, the bar pairs Art Deco décor with jazz playing in the background. It books recurring Thursday-evening jazz and blues nights running from 6 to 9 p.m. The team is also working to restore a 100-year-old piano gifted from a nearby church, with hopes of hosting live jazz nights that honor the building's historic roots. There's no sign out front; guests have to discover the entrance on their own.
