Benton Park's live-music offerings are anchored by three venues that each occupy a distinct corner of the independent-music world. The Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center (LNAC) is a non-profit performance space in the historic Benton Park neighborhood that has been one of the oldest all-ages DIY music venues in the region since its founding in March 1994, operating entirely on volunteer labor. Shows are always all-ages and alcohol-free, with a $5 door admission; the Lemp is best known for experimental acts spanning noise rock, art rock, free improvisation, hardcore, punk, math rock, and no wave. The venue also hosts NoisefeSTL, a three-day festival featuring experimental performers from the Midwest whose work is associated with noise. The Luminary, a not-for-profit founded in 2007, functions as a forum for artistic research, production, and presentation. Originally constructed as a theater, its main gallery features a vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams and holds up to 250 for theater seating. Venice Café is a performance venue covered in mosaics and sculptures, known for local music, a weekly open mic night, and both indoor and outdoor performance spaces. It operates cash-only and books live music nightly. The Benton Park Neighborhood Association also hosts a free summer concert series in the park itself.
