The Hard Promises came about after front man Caleb Christner and lead guitar player Adam Mandarino’s last band Common Misconception broke up in late 08. After a short stint writing country music, Caleb decided it was time to get back to making the kind of music that changed his life way back when he was thirteen years old. Christner called on old friend and ex anaphora drummer Adam Silvenis to get things started. The two worked out songs starting in mid February. The songs are honest, heart felt and reflect some of the ups and downs Caleb had been going through the past several months. As things developed, they were also able to get out some songs that he’d had sitting around from years past. After getting the songs together the two started recording their first record at CM sounds in march of 2009. CM sounds is the recording studio owned and operated by Christner and Mandarino, enter Adam Mandarino into the mix. Originally, Adam was just going to play bass and the band was going to be a three piece punk band. Mandarino recorded the bass for the bands record, but it was becoming clear that things were really going to start rolling and that Adam's tasteful playing was too fitting to sacrifice entirely to play bass. This is how we get to the current Hard Promises line up. Jake Orr, also ex anaphora, was just as excited by the music that was going on and agreed to play bass. At its core, The Hard Promises are made up of four friends who love playing music. Caleb and Adam have known each other for more then thirteen years. It's music being played and made the way it should be, with friends. With the band about to release their first album the future looks bright and wide open.
