The Delmar Loop has been a live-music and entertainment destination since the 1970s, and music has long been central to its identity. Two anchor venues sit within the district's eight-block stretch along Delmar Boulevard. The Duck Room is Blueberry Hill's intimate live-music room, named after Chuck Berry's famous duck walk. It hosts local, regional, and nationally touring artists, and is best known as the venue where Chuck Berry performed over 200 consecutive monthly concerts. The Duck Room opened inside Blueberry Hill in 1997. Its capacity of roughly 340 keeps audiences close to the stage, and its programming spans rock, indie, blues, hip-hop, and alternative. Since opening in 2000, The Pageant has earned a reputation as one of the best concert venues in the country. Built for live music with a tiered floor plan to optimize sightlines and professional sound and lights, its layout means audiences are always within 70 feet of the stage, whether the crowd numbers 750 or 2,300. In Pollstar's ranking of the world's nightclubs by ticket sales, The Pageant ranked 4th in 2008 and 6th in 2014.
