Forest Park

A neighborhood in St. Louis

The Muny anchors summer in Forest Park as America's oldest and largest outdoor musical theater, at 1 Theatre Dr. Its season runs every year from mid-June to mid-August. The Muny produces all of its musicals, typically seven, in the season. The amphitheater seats 11,000 people, with about 1,500 free seats in the last nine rows available on a first-come, first-served basis. While the programming leans Broadway rather than concert music, The Muny has a live-music history: concerts were performed here prior to the opening of Riverport Amphitheatre in 1991. Forest Park itself draws additional performances beyond The Muny. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's free annual concert on Art Hill has taken place for more than 55 years, reflecting the SLSO's commitment to the city. Throughout the year, St. Louisans can also check out the Shakespeare Festival and annual music festivals in the park.
