Skinker-DeBaliviere sits between the Delmar Loop to the north and Forest Park to the south, and that geography shapes its live-music character. The neighborhood is home to The Pageant and the other establishments of the Delmar Loop east of University City. Sharing that block, Delmar Hall opened in 2016 as a companion to The Pageant and has solidified its place as the premier mid-level venue in St. Louis, accommodating shows drawing anywhere from 350 to 750 people. While rock and indie are staples, Delmar Hall's calendar covers country, pop, heavy metal, and comedy. A few blocks away on Kingsbury Avenue, Joe's Café at Christman Studios operates at the opposite end of the scale. The intimate spot is long known for its creative decor, Thursday concert series, and bring-your-own-booze policy. The Thursday series features local artists, and the space has operated on a residentially zoned property since the 1980s. Legacy Bar & Grill rounds out the neighborhood's venues. The neighborhood also hosts the Porch Festival, a neighborhood-wide event with local bands playing on residents' porches, free to attend every September.
