Somerset
Somerset Amphitheater is the largest outdoor amphitheater and camping venue in the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin area. It sits about 35 minutes from St. Paul and 45 minutes from Minneapolis, just across the St. Croix River in Wisconsin. The venue opened in 1981 with its inaugural concert featuring country legend Charlie Daniels and took its current name in 2011 when owner Matt Mithun took over. A typical season runs from May through October, with a flexible floor-and-lawn bowl layout and total capacity ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 depending on configuration. The venue books across a wide range of genres, including blues, country, bluegrass, folk, indie, classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and alternative. Past headliners include the Avett Brothers, Slipknot, Ozzy Osbourne, Kenny Chesney, the Lumineers, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Pretty Lights. Annual concert festivals have included Apple River Country Splash, Ozzfest, and 93X Fest. On-site activities like fishing and tubing give shows a full-day outdoor character before the music starts each evening.
