Riverton's live-music footprint centers on one room: the Backroom Listening Lounge, a small listening room that seats about 50 people, located at 713 N. 7th Street. The room is run by Jeb Brown, a booker whose influence reaches well beyond Riverton, having introduced the Central Illinois area to acts just starting out as well as fully established artists, with concerts spanning from Elkhart to Riverton and many points in between. The Backroom Lounge hosts a wide range of genres, with past bookings including Adam Hood, Alex Williams, and Taylor Hunnicutt, a lineup that leans toward Americana, country, and singer-songwriter territory. Acts like Sunny Sweeney, Erin Enderlin, and Jason Eady with Midnight River Choir have all played the room. For a small suburb, it punches well above its size, drawing regional and touring artists to an intentionally intimate setting.
