A suburb in the Chicago area
Blue Island sits about 20 miles south of downtown Chicago, connected to the city by the Rock Island Train line. It's a small, history-conscious town, and its live-music options reflect that mix of old bones and neighborhood character. The Lyric Theater has been a Blue Island landmark since 1917. Originally a movie theater, it's now primarily a live music venue, though it still shows classic movies on Tuesday nights. The room holds 260 people and has booked acts like Enuff Z'Nuff and Franc D'Ambrosio. The art deco space is also available for private events. Natural Law Bar & Grill sits on Olde Western Avenue and is listed among Chicago Southland's live music venues. The bar hosts live music nights alongside trivia and themed parties, and features an outdoor beer garden and a gaming section. Club Krave, on S. Western Avenue, bills itself as the premier alternative lifestyle establishment on Chicago's South Side, and is open to everyone. It features monthly drag shows and weekend entertainment.
