Buffalo Grove

A suburb in the Chicago area

Prairie House Tavern, open since 2006, is Buffalo Grove's primary live-music spot, a quaint bar with a rustic feel and a family twist that occupies a building once known as Jerry's Supper Club. The tavern hosts rock and roll acts on its deck, with no cover charge. Recent bookings include solo acoustic performers like Dead Eye Rye and North Shore Line, a six-member classic rock band covering the Beatles, Eric Clapton, and Crosby Stills Nash & Young, drawing young adult, family, and senior crowds alike. Tuesday nights are dedicated to karaoke. Beyond the tavern, the Buffalo Grove Park District runs a free summer concert series at the Adriane Johnson Amphitheater at Mike Rylko Community Park. The suburb leans on neighboring towns for more dedicated music programming; Prairie House is the reliable local anchor for bar-room live music in the village.
