Mundelein

Mundelein is a town of about 31,000 people located roughly 45 minutes northwest of downtown Chicago. Its live-music options are concentrated in two very different rooms. The Original Sundance Saloon is an entertainment venue running live music and country dancing all year, doubling as a saloon and sports bar. Weekend nights mix indoor DJ sets with outdoor tribute shows, including acts like Physical Graffiti (a Led Zeppelin tribute) and Petty Union (a Tom Petty tribute). The venue also books multi-act rock nights pairing acts like a Who tribute with hair-metal sets. Sunday afternoon all-ages country-dance sessions run noon to 5 p.m. for $5 at the door. Tighthead Brewing Company was founded by brewer Bruce Dir and began production in fall 2011, with its taproom sitting adjacent to the Metra train station. The brewery hosts live music Thursdays through Saturdays, along with trivia nights and rotating food trucks. The taproom typically pours 12 to 16 beers on tap, many of them seasonal and taproom-exclusive.
