A suburb in the Chicago area
Grayslake's live-music options center on two spots in or near its historic downtown. Black Lung Brewing, owned by Grayslake residents, runs open mic nights and live music on weekends from its taproom in the former Light the Lamp Brewery building on S. Lake Street. Open mic runs every Thursday evening. The brewery also hosts a monthly bluegrass jam circle that draws musicians from across the Midwest. Weekend bookings have included The Orange Vega, a classic rock, pop, and originals act, and the room doubles as a trivia and karaoke night space the rest of the week. The Vine Martini & Wine Bar, at 101 Center Street, puts live music on its patio, leaning toward acoustic and cover acts. Rock cover band The Complex, which spans seven decades of music, has played the room, as have solo acoustic performers like Scotty Bootz on acoustic guitar and Megan Lick doing crowd-pleasing acoustic covers. Out-of-town bookings have included Pendulum Hearts from Austin, Texas, mixing Western Swing, Honky Tonk, and Jazz Manouche.
