Palos Heights
A suburb in the Chicago area
Franklins Public House and Highlander House Restaurant & Bar anchor the live-music scene in this quiet southwest suburb, sitting just down the block from each other on S. Harlem Ave. Franklins Public House is an American gastropub that hosts live music performances and special events regularly, drawing on local talent. The space occupies what was once an old Ben Franklin dime store, and weather permitting, outside seating is part of the experience on music nights. Highlander House is an authentic Polish restaurant and bar featuring live music every Sunday from 2–7 pm. Warm and rustic, it recreates a Polish mountain-cabin atmosphere with wooden decorations, souvenirs, and regional instruments. Dishes are prepared from scratch according to recipes from the Podhale region of southern Poland, and the atmosphere turns especially energetic when live Polish folk music plays on Sundays. Beyond the bars, the city runs a Concerts in the Park series of family-friendly events at Memorial Park each summer, with past lineups including tribute acts such as Fortunate Sons and The Chicago Experience.
