Oberlin

Oberlin's live-music identity is almost entirely shaped by the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, one of the country's most respected music schools. The Conservatory live-streams roughly 400 concerts per year from eight campus venues. Warner Concert Hall is the Conservatory's primary recital space. The 496-seat hall adjoins the Conservatory of Music and is used for student and faculty recitals as well as recording sessions; architect Minoru Yamasaki completed the design in 1963. The hall features a 44-stop Flentrop organ with 3,400 pipes, built in the northern European style of the 18th century, plus a Spanish Baroque organ installed in 2018. Chamber music performances by Conservatory students from the brass and woodwind departments are among the regular offerings. Most performances carry free admission with no tickets required. Outside the Conservatory, the city runs a seasonal outdoor series: the City of Oberlin presents live music on Tappan Square on Friday evenings in summer.
