Belleville
A city in the Detroit area
Belleville sits about 30 miles west of Detroit and carries an outsized musical legacy: it is home to the "Belleville Three" Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson, the trio credited with birthing Detroit techno in the 1980s. That history still echoes today. Diamondback Music Hall hosted a one-night-only return performance by all three in May 2026, described as a rare, intimate throwback set at a venue located less than a mile from where the group first experimented with electronic sound. Diamondback Music Hall, on the South I-94 Service Drive, is the city's main dedicated music venue. It holds up to 1,000 people and books across all genres. The room features cutting-edge sound and lighting, customizable 360° projection mapping, two full bars, and a year-round heated patio. Its calendar mixes country dance nights (the recurring "Saddle Up" series), hip-hop, EDM, and rock acts, with weekly Wednesday line dance lessons alongside ticketed weekend concerts. Downtown, Music Lakeside runs as a free Thursday-night concert series in Horizon Park, 7 to 9 p.m., with a different food truck each week through the summer.
