Westside Detroit's live-music footprint is small compared to Midtown or Downtown, but Halo Detroit on Greenfield Road has anchored the area since 1980. The bar has long served the GLBT community and offers karaoke, billiards, and sports alongside its music programming. A big dance floor and spacious patio set the tone; DJs rotate regularly, and pool, darts, karaoke nights, and board games fill out the calendar. Themed nights include drag bingo, Tuesday karaoke, and Bears Out Friday. The room also takes on more produced events: promoters have brought Trance and Afro House nights to the space, and the venue has hosted live Broadway-style cabarets. Halo won the 2025 Metro Times Reader's Choice Award for Best Karaoke Night. It is the one consistent live-music stop on this part of the Westside.
