The Q & Z Expo Center was originally an elementary school built in 1961, converted into a concert venue by Peggy and Andy Olsen after the school closed. The first show was held on March 2, 2014, and the venue has since built a loyal following among concertgoers and touring bands alike. It books national and international acts in rock, metal, and country, with a capacity of around 786. Recent bookings reflect a strong lean toward hard rock and metal, with acts like Steel Panther, Buckcherry, and (hed) p.e. all passing through. The venue also steps outside the heavy-rock lane at times, hosting events like a Bluegrass Jamboree featuring the Joseph Huber Band. For a small rural community, the Q & Z punches well above its weight as the only dedicated live-music room in the area.
