Boggstown
A suburb in the Indianapolis area
Boggstown is a small rural community about 20 miles southeast of Indianapolis, and its live-music identity is almost entirely defined by one long-running institution: the Boggstown Cabaret BC Supper Club. The Cabaret opened in July 1984, fulfilling the dream of seed farmer Carlos Gray, who wanted to share his love of ragtime and Dixieland jazz. The venue quickly became a regional destination, built around dual piano and banjo music, with performers playing ragtime from the turn of the century through 1929. The 1920s theme made it a natural home for the Indiana Ragtime Society. Current owners Brad Zumwalt and Russell Moss have continued the traditions and drawn visitors from every state and 25 countries. The programming has broadened over the years into original musical comedies and murder-mystery shows. Now known as the Boggstown Cabaret BC Supper Club, the venue mixes music and comedy in an intimate setting inside a building over 150 years old. Saturday evening shows and Sunday matinees run on a scheduled basis. Reservations are required and advance check of show dates is a must.
