Lafayette
Lafayette's live-music calendar runs from bar stages to a full-scale historic theater. The anchor venue is the Long Center for the Performing Arts, a 1,155-seat theater built in 1921, located in the heart of downtown Lafayette's Arts and Culture District. The facility is owned by the City of Lafayette and managed by Long Center Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3). In 1981 the theater was included on the National Register of Historic Places. Programming at the Long Center spans a wide range, including musical, comedy, and theatrical events, as well as performances by Purdue Bands & Orchestras, Purdue Musical Organizations, the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, and the Wabash Valley Youth Symphony. Events range from tribute concerts and chamber music to nationally touring stand-up and family programming. Recent bookings have included jazz artist Samara Joy and folk singer Judy Collins. Beyond the Long Center, annual events like the Indiana Fiddlers' Gathering and the Uptown Jazz and Blues Fest give the broader scene a distinct character across genres.
