West Lafayette
West Lafayette's live-music calendar runs almost entirely through Purdue University, with two campus venues carrying the load. Elliott Hall of Music, on the Purdue campus, seats 6,005, making it one of the largest proscenium theaters in the world and about 100 seats larger than Radio City Music Hall. The hall takes on operas, concerts, and comedy shows from touring artists. Loeb Playhouse sits inside the Stewart Center and operates at a much smaller scale. It is an intimate setting for Purdue Convocations events, where chamber orchestras, string quartets, and jazz ensembles perform, and it is home to University Bands concerts and Purdue Musical Organizations performances. Upcoming bookings include a Billy Joel and Elton John tribute concert and a Bang on a Can All-Stars program. Together the two venues cover a wide range, from major touring productions at Elliott Hall to smaller, more formal classical and jazz programming at Loeb.
